ESSD FEES Accreditation Programme

The 4th ESSD FEES accreditation course will be held in Mataró, near Barcelona, on 7-8 February 2019. Prior to the onsite course there will be an online course, available from 21 January which covers some background anatomy, physiology, and complications of dysphagia. Then there are two days onsite at Mataró Hospital where there will be lectures and practice  with the endoscopes and case studies. At the end of the course there will be a multiple choice exam.

ESSD CSE Accreditation Programme

ESSD is starting a new Accreditation Programme on Screening and Clinical Swallowing Evaluation  

1st ESSD CSE Accreditation Course will take place on February 14-15 in Mataró, Barcelona.

This is a course directed to all health professionals involved in the multi-disciplinary team of dysphagia management with a degree of at least 180 ECTS.

Prerequisits:

2 years clinical experience managing patients at risk of dysphagia

A C1 level of the language the course is given in.

How to get to Mataró?

From the Prat de Llobregat Airport the best option is take the train to Barcelona Sants Estació (Line R2) and there change train to line R1.

From Barcelona there are interurban buses and train:

Train Line R1 has 4 stops at Barcelona (Sants, Plaça Catalunya, Arc de Triomf, el Clot Aragó) with direction Mataró, Arenys de Mar, Calella, Blanes or Maçanet-Massanes (more about train service here).

There are two bus direct lines between Mataró and Barcelona with two stops at Barcelona: Ronda Universitat, 21 (very close to Plaça Catalunya) and Plaça Tetuan.

E11.1 goes to center of Mataró, near hotel zone.

01 December 2018 - 31 January - Submission of documents, authentication of documents and payment of fees 

21 January 2019 - 6 February        - Online theoretical course available for FEES students

28 January 2019 - 13 February -  Online theoretical course available for CSE students 

7-8 February 2019     - On-site FEES course at Hospital de Mataró, near Barcelona, Spain

February 2019         - On-site   FEES theory end-of-course exam, Hospital de Mataró

14-15 February 2019 -   On-site CSE course at Hospital de Mataró, near Barcelona, Spain

                                       

For both accreditations: On passing the exam, students will be given a certificate that they have attended and passed the exam. To obtain the accreditation that they are competent to explore neurological and geriatric patients for dysphagia, using FEES or Clinical Screening and Swallowing Evaluation depending on the course they have taken. Students will need to complete the programme and organize for themselves practical stages under supervision of an accredited ESSD monitor and then sit a final practical exam to be fully accredited as practitioners of the diagnositic procedure.
